What is good practice?
Good learning and teaching practice at UOW is any initiative that has contributed to developing:
  • graduates equipped to contribute to society and the workplace
  • an active, collaborative and flexible learning experience for students
  • quality programs relevant to the evolving needs of students and the community
  • an international focus in learning and teaching
  • high quality teaching

These are the five learning and teaching objectives of the UOW Strategic Plan.

Good practice can be small, like one assessment task in one subject, or large like a whole Faculty Quality Assurance Plan.

Good practice examples are validated by the Excellence, Diversity and Innovation in Teaching (EDITS) of the University Education Committee. The questions asked by EDITS in selecting case studies for this site include:
  • does the case study contribute to one of the learning and teaching objectives (see above), and/or to Faculty objectives?
  • is it innovative?
  • has its success been evaluated?
  • is it an effective use of resources?
  • is it sustainable?
  • would others be able to use the ideas that it offers?
  • does it add a new perspective to our teaching practice?
Ideas and suggestions for the Learning and Teaching Good Practice site are welcome at any time - please email feedback to amelano@uow.edu.au
